Marita joined the Active Rehabilitation team in 2016 to provide inpatient care at Mater Private Hospital and Brisbane Private Hospital in a variety of clinical areas.
Marita graduated from the University of Queensland. She received several Dean’s Commendations for academic excellence throughout her physiotherapy studies. During the course of her physiotherapy studies, Marita worked as an Assistant in Nursing in an aged care facility and also worked as a physiotherapy assistant for a child with an acquired brain injury. These experiences she found very rewarding and a great foundation for her work as a physiotherapist.
Marita has previously worked as a physiotherapist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with a particular interest for intensive care, acute surgery, trauma and neurosurgery. Marita has provided clinical education to final year students from Griffith and James Cook University in their acute cardiorespiratory placements.
In 2016, Marita commenced a Doctor of Medicine at the Griffith University. She hopes to continue to use her skills learnt from Physiotherapy to enhance her practice as a Medical Professional.
Marita has devoted many hours over the years to a variety of volunteer and social justice activities including volunteering at the Royal Children’s Hospital and now the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital, Edmund Rice Camp’s and works with the Sister’s of Mercy. Whilst also travelling overseas to India, South Africa and Cambodia and Indonesia on volunteer and cultural immersion trips.
In her spare time, Marita enjoys netball, going to the beach, travel and spending time with friends and family.
