John Howard
Over his years at Active, John has gained experience in many clinical areas, but his passions lie in the areas of musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy, orthopaedics and post-operative rehabilitation.
He attributes some of this passion to a keen interest in all sports—particularly rugby union. He works across Active Rehab’s Inpatient and Outpatient services, which enables him to offer connected care to patients in hospital and after they are discharged. He also works as part of Active’s Clinical Education team supporting final year physiotherapy students from UQ.
John works with some of Brisbane’s top lower limb orthopaedic surgeons to provide advice, assessment and treatment to patients undergoing Knee Reconstructive and Knee Replacement surgeries. Described as capable and committed, John provides a person-centred, holistic approach to patient care and tailors treatments and programs based on individual goals and circumstances. His most satisfying career moment, thus far, has been seeing a long-term patient return to work and sport, after significant injuries and multiple surgeries.
John enjoys travel and has spent long periods travelling throughout Europe and South East Asia. He is a former Rugby Union player and enjoys the sport, as a player, a spectator and as a team physiotherapist.
John’s favourite quote:
“Be the change you want to see in the world.” – Mahatma Ghandi
