Matthew Fels
Matthew’s ability to offer clear, calm and practical instruction and advice is invaluable for our patients and our team. He is Active’s Director of Hospitals and Connected Care, mentoring our teams of physiotherapists across our multiple hospital locations in Brisbane and Springfield. He also works as part of Active’s Clinical Education team supporting final year physiotherapy students from UQ and ACU.
Matt has many years of clinical practice, with a special focus on pre- and post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation. His colleagues describe him as supportive, hard-working and conscientious, which illustrates his high standard of client-centred and collaborative care. Matt contributes to our physiotherapy profession through his leadership in the APA Queensland Orthopaedic Group and Queensland Orthopaedic Network.
Matthew has worked in a variety of private and public healthcare settings, in Australia and the UK, as a senior physiotherapist in orthopaedics, intensive care, geriatrics and cardiorespiratory rehabilitation. He has also worked with the Active Rehabilitation Research Foundation, in partnership with the University of Qld, to provide student clinical placements in Timor Leste, supporting sustainable and long-term outcomes for patients and communities.
Matthew loves to spend as much time as he can with his young family, tinkering around his home and garden and, having once played AFL with the Brisbane Lions reserves, continues to support the club and the Australian Football League.
Matthew’s favourite quote is:
“Not all those who wander are lost.” – J.R.R Tolkien
