Rielan Newell
Rielan’s patients experience his dedication and his passion for physiotherapy. He highly values the impact that physiotherapists can have on people’s lives and working collaboratively with his patients to achieve their goals. Rielan has strong skills in rehabilitation thanks to his dual degrees in both exercise physiology and physiotherapy. He is particularly passionate about neurological, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. He also works as part of Active’s Clinical Education team supporting final year physiotherapy students from UQ.
A standout career moment for Rielan was working with a long-stay Intensive Care patient who had lost motor function in their feet. After working together, the motor function returned. Witnessing the relief on the patient’s face, and the delight of the patient’s partner, was something Rielan will always remember.
Rielan is described as respectful and empathetic, and utilises hands-on techniques and exercise prescriptions to help people achieve optimal outcomes.
When not at work, he’s probably at the beach surfing or chasing a ball around a golf course.
Rielan’s favourite quote:
“If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.” – Marissa Mayer
