Tracy has centered her career as a physiotherapist on improving the lives of others through evidence-based, patient centred care. She has over a decade of experience in critical care, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary patient care.

Tracy’s career journey began in South Africa during her Community Service in the Gauteng Department of Health, where she gained invaluable experience working in ICU and rehabilitation settings. She later served as Senior Physiotherapist and Practice Manager at S.D. Hansen Physiotherapy, where she managed a diverse range of critical care cases and played a pivotal role in overseeing the clinic’s daily operations. As the founder and lead physiotherapist of her private practice at a hospital in Johannesburg, Tracy developed a highly successful practice specialising in trauma and cardiothoracic care. Her leadership and innovative treatment pathways for complex cases, along with her expansion of home recovery programs, earned her practice an integral role in the hospital’s world class trauma reputation. Tracy has also mentored other professionals, fostering a collaborative and excellence driven approach to patient care.

What Tracy values most about her profession is the opportunity to connect with patients on a personal level and help them overcome their challenges. She believes that each patient has a unique story and drivers, and it’s her job to understand these in order to deliver personalised care. Tracy’s patient care approach is rooted in empathy, active listening, and education, working collaboratively to empower patients with the knowledge and tools they need to take control of their health and well-being.

One of Tracy’s most memorable moments as a physiotherapist was seeing a patient who had required long-term ventilation, ECMO, and sedation walk out of the hospital with only minimal supplemental oxygen. This experience highlighted the importance of mindset, hard work, and perseverance in achieving incredible recovery outcomes.

Outside of work, Tracy enjoys spending quality time with her family, watching her children grow and develop, and staying active through walks, hikes, and exploring new areas.
