We were pleased to welcome Marcel Mercier to our Active Rehabilitation team in 2019.  With a special interest in physiotherapy for neurological and cardiorespiratory conditions, as well as sports physiotherapy, Marcel works as part of our hospital physiotherapy team.

Marcel graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland in 2019, receiving First Class Honours and the Dean’s Commendation for Academic Excellence.

During his physiotherapy studies, Marcel undertook an Advanced Honours Research Project investigating the effects of non-invasive brain stimulation on cortical neuroplasticity.

He also gained international physiotherapy experience on a student placement in Timor-Leste, providing neurological rehabilitation services at the National Centre of Rehabilitation.

Marcel has worked as a sports trainer for a senior men’s AFL team, as well as for basketball and junior rugby teams.

Marcel is a keen sportsman and musician and enjoys running, various sports, and playing the piano and guitar.
